Aloha from the New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego!

Our friends over at the museum tasked us with creating a menu and décor set up to match this year’s theme for their annual donor event. To honor the museum’s donors, known as The Rain House Society, the museum puts on a themed appreciation event. This year’s theme was an “island/tiki” party and the museum knew we would hit it out of the park because themes are our specialty.

The dinner was a heavy appetizer service style, with tropical flavors throughout the meal. Guests enjoyed tray-passed appetizers, which included our Coconut Crusted Chicken Edible Spoon and Grilled Shrimp with pineapple rum salsa.

Guests explored the museum while stopping at food and beverage stations along the way. Stations served up Chicken Teriyaki in eco-friendly bamboo boats, Kona Pulled Pork & Slaw Sliders with a Hawaiian Green Salad and a bright and colorful grazing station with fresh seasonal fruit and bruschetta.

On the museum’s lower level, guests were pleasantly surprised to find desserts and our signature iced coffee bar.

In addition, many know food is our passion, but we also love to tie our presentation together with matching décor. Our design team knew from the start our plan involved using as much fresh décor as possible including florals, leaves and food.

Each station was adorned with bright turquoise linens with colorful pops of florals and accented with palm leaves. We elevated our grazing station with a specialty shelving piece and filled it with beautifully hand-carved fruits courtesy of our skilled kitchen team.

Together, with our event design and the colorful walls and exhibits in The New Children’s Museum, it was a match made in paradise.

We would like to thank The Rain House Society for their continued support of one of our preferred venues and we encourage you to learn more about hosting your events at the museum by checking out their venue page here.
