When Meghan Vergara presented us with an opportunity to work with Martin Reyes, the first Master of Wine of Mexican descent with a prolific background in the wine industry, we of course said "Yes!".
Immediately, our kitchen team, with the help of Meghan, put together a tantalizing menu that would pair perfectly with each featured wine for our Wine Makers Dinner.
To get things started, we kicked the evening off with a Novecento Sparkling Wine paired with our Cauliflower Crostini, Filet Crostini, Stuffed Jalapeño, and Shrimp Cocktail appetizers.
By this time, our guests were ready to dive into dinner. Up first, we served a 2017 Peter Paul Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay paired with our spring beet salad dressed in a sweet lemon vinaigrette.
For the main course, our almond crusted and pan seared halibut placed over polenta cake and fiddleheads and topped with a citrus beurre blanc created the perfect balance paired with the 2016 Peter Paul Gravenstein Highway Pinot Noir.
No dinner is complete without dessert! For this, we paired a 2016 Masters Blend Proprietary Red Blend with our delectable flourless chocolate cake with a blueberry compote.
Guests were entertained and laughing throughout the night as Martin shared his anecdotes and knowledge about the featured wines.
To top off the evening, guests enjoyed a final glass of Lustau "East India" Solera Sherry, ending our 2019 Wine Makers Dinner.
The dinner was a success! What an honor it was to work with both Meghan and Martin Reyes! Cheers!
